Honors, Residency and Fellowship
Dr. Butler has been a successful leader for the medical profession for over thirty years. While in private practice of general and vascular surgery, he was a tireless patient advocate. After suffering a spinal cord injury, he became a disabled veteran advocate while working for the Paralyzed Veterans of America in Washington D.C. Dr. Butler has brought a lifetime of advocacy to help veterans with health claims before the Veterans Board of Appeals, and has done so for over five years. He served in the Army Medical Corps and is disabled so he understands the plight of the veteran with disabilities and brings this special understanding when helping the veteran deal with the VA. Independent medical evaluations from physician's with experience can profoundly and positively influence a veteran's appeal to the Veterans Administration.
Dr. Butler believes that the men and women who have given so much to their country deserve to have the best chance possible for a favorable outcome.

Mission
To be an advocate for veterans with health problems that are acquired or aggravated by military service; to provide advice and support to those veterans, their relatives and friends; to provide research supported information in order to make the strongest presentation to government disability agencies.
Provided Services
Dr. Butler performs Independent Medical Evaluations for:
Filing for veteran's benefits; Filing for social security disability benefits; Filing for surviving spouse benefits.
It is important to gather as much information as possible about the veteran's health complaints acquired or aggravated while in the military. This includes getting from the veteran a complete copy of their C File, which includes;
1. medical records while in the military.
2. medical records after separation from the military.
3. correspondence with the Veterans Administration.
4. correspondence from other parties.
5. A written history of about two pages written by the veteran about his disability/illness while in the military and up to the present.
After receiving the records, the next process is to;
1. thoroughly read and evaluate all records.
2. research the medical literature to support these claims.
3. provide a professional written opinion.
4. follow up if further appeals are necessary
